Santa Cruz OM Custom Moon Spruce / Figured Honduran Rosewood made in 2023.

*This guitar is in 'Mint' condition (As New).

The OM (Orchestra Model) body gained worldwide recognition through Eric Clapton's legendary MTV Unplugged performance. Its greatest appeal lies in its comfortable size, making it easy to hold while offering exceptional versatility for a wide range of playing styles.

Although OM guitars are typically smaller than dreadnoughts and are sometimes expected to produce less volume, the Santa Cruz OM completely defies that expectation. It delivers impressive projection comparable to a dreadnought while preserving the signature clarity, balance, and articulation that have made the OM body so beloved. Simply put, it represents the OM design at its very best.

Its outstanding performance is made possible by Santa Cruz's Forward Shifted X-Bracing and Adirondack spruce braces assembled with traditional hot hide glue. This combination enhances volume, bass response, sustain, and overall responsiveness to an extraordinary level.

Perhaps the most captivating feature, however, is the premium tone produced by its master-grade Adirondack spruce top paired with Honduran rosewood back and sides. The guitar responds effortlessly to the lightest touch while maintaining remarkable clarity and composure under aggressive attack, without breaking up or compressing. This exceptional dynamic range allows players to express every musical nuance with confidence and precision.

Moon Spruce

Moon Spruce is European spruce harvested from the Swiss Alps at elevations exceeding 1,000 meters (3,300 feet). Growing in the harsh conditions of the high mountains, these trees develop exceptional acoustic properties that make them highly prized as tonewood.

For centuries, this region has been renowned for producing some of the world's finest spruce, particularly for high-end violins and other premium stringed instruments.

A small number of traditional sawmills, drawing on generations of experience, discovered that the characteristics of the wood vary depending on the phase of the moon at the time of harvesting. They found differences in moisture content, density, weight, and dimensional stability between trees felled before and after the full moon, and they developed specialized milling and drying techniques accordingly.

Only spruce harvested and processed according to this traditional method is designated as Moon Spruce, making it one of the most distinctive and sought-after tonewoods available today.
