This model year 2000 DC-15E is the all mahogany cutaway acoustic/electric version of the D15. The DC-15E is a rare model only made for a few years. Today it’s hard to find the combination of a satin finish solid mahogany back and sides, rosewood bridge/fingerboard, cutaway, and on-board System 1 electronics. Beautiful warm Martin mahogany sound acoustic or acoustic electric for any style guitar play.

If you like the big Martin sound, but want a sweeter tone, you’ll get a great sounding all mahogany guitar, with a built-in pickup, the ease of playing higher notes on a cutaway model, with resonance that has improved since year 2000, then this is the guitar for you.  Original owner, non smoking, home instrument that has never been out on the road. Just a few superficial marks where the top meets the side below the pick guard, but otherwise showroom quality near mint! Even the case is near mint, as never traveled. We will de-tuned 1 step for travel, pack with the Original Hardshell Case in a sturdy box made to ship a guitar, with bubble wrap for added cushioning.

The DC-15E is a relatively uncommon model:

  • It was introduced around 2000 as a U.S.-made, all-solid mahogany dreadnought with a cutaway and onboard electronics.
  • It was only produced for a relatively short time before being discontinued, making early examples fairly scarce.
  • If you're trying to estimate rarity, most Martin historians and collectors believe 2000 production was likely only in the hundreds rather than thousands, but there is no verified official count.

Based on what we have here, this 2000 Martin DC-15E is in very good to excellent, near mint original condition.

Here's what stands out:

  • Top: The satin mahogany top has developed a nice, even patina that's typical of 15 Series Martins of this age. There are no cracks, repairs, or significant dings.
  • Headstock: The logo is clean, and there are only minor signs of use around the tuner posts. The tuning machines are original.
  • Bridge and pickguard: Both are original and in good shape.
  • Neck and fretboard: The neck has never been reset. The fretboard and frets have such minor playing wear, it’s hard to believe the instrument is 26 years old.
  • Overall: This guitar was well cared for and unmodified.

Estimated market value (July 2026)

Based on recent sales of comparable DC-15E guitars and the condition shown here:

Excellent condition with original case: $1,400–$1,900

Exceptional, all-original example with paperwork: $1,700–$2,000

Dealer asking price: $1,800–$2,100 (though actual selling prices are usually lower)

This guitar appears to fall toward the upper half of the first range ($1,400–$1,900) since it has the original hard case and no structural issues.

One interesting point is that 2000 was the first production year for the DC-15E. Early 15 Series guitars have developed a loyal following because of their all-solid mahogany construction and warm, woody tone.

Since you’ll have the original Martin hardshell case, that alone can add roughly $100–$200 to the value.
