A 1954 Martin D-18 is a highly sought-after vintage acoustic known for its dry, punchy mahogany tone and superb projection. Period-correct specs include a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, non-scalloped bracing, and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard and bridge. Because these instruments have aged over 70 years, finding one in original, pristine condition is rare! The 1954 D-18 represents a highly desirable era for Martin. Unlike earlier pre-war models, these 1950s workhorses are widely celebrated for their bold, clear, and focused voice that cuts through in bluegrass and flatpicking ensembles.
