Up for sale is a rare piece of guitar effects history: a 100% original, 1977 Ibanez OD-855 Overdrive II (First Series).

Built in Japan by Nisshin Onpa (Maxon), this is the highly coveted Version 1 "Narrow Box" variant. It features the legendary "Cursive Script" Ibanez logo and the iconic "Flying Fingers" graphic on the front face. Unlike the later smooth-sounding Tube Screamers, this early circuit offers an aggressive, harmonically rich, fuzz-leaning distortion that sounds absolutely incredible when pushed.

Component Authenticity & Date Verification:

• Op-Amp Chip: Original  MC1458P carrying the 1977 date stamp M710.
• Potentiometers: Original Nisshin Onpa (Maxon) pots with matching date stamps.
• Solder Joints: 100% original and untouched. No modifications, no replaced components, and no repairs.
• The pedal was originally sold in the Netherlands by Bouter Muziek in Gouda, and has been in my possession for about 40 years, of which the last 30 years stored in a drawer.

Condition & Functionality:

• Cosmetic: Naturally relic'd. There are very obvious paint chips off the original pea-soup green finish (as clearly pictured in the photos), but the graphic and text remain clean and legible.
• Mechanical: The vintage silver mechanical pushbutton switch engages perfectly. The pots turn smoothly with [no static / a tiny bit of typical vintage scratchiness that clears with use].
• Power: This is the earliest design, meaning it runs on a 9V battery only (no external DC jack from the factory).

Includes: Pedal only
