Teeming with 21st-century appointments, the Ibanez RGR52ET exemplifies what the company’s experimental Axe Design Lab series is all about. This solidbody electric guitar is built around a solid slab of nyatoh, carved into Ibanez’s classic RG shape and topped with maple. Its 3-piece maple Wizard III neck offers extreme playing comfort, further elevated by a flat-radius Macassar ebony fingerboard with 24 stainless steel frets. Ear-grabbing tones abound when you plug the RGR52ET in, courtesy of multi-voice Fishman Fluence Modern humbuckers. Furthermore, an EverTune bridge and Gotoh tuning machines ensure spot-on intonation — even under extremely primal playing conditions. Offset-dot fingerboard inlays, Luminlay side dots, a reverse headstock, and a gleaming gloss-poly finish round out the RGR52ET’s outstanding features. Players with a penchant for precision will find that the Ibanez Axe Design Lab RGR52ET ticks all the right boxes, and they’ll have a difficult time putting this state-of-the-art solidbody down.
