For sale is an Electro-Voice 660 that sounds fantastic! For anyone that does not know, this is the exact same microphone as the Electro-Voice PL6. The only difference between the two is the paint, this model was released around the time Electro-Voice was rebranding products to appeal to professionals, which was the start of their Professional Line (PL) series. Most notably, you had the use of the PL20 on Nirvana, which was the same exact microphone as the RE20 with a different coat of paint. Just like the RE20, this microphone employs the use of variable d technology.

Functionality wise, this microphone sounds great and has had the foam replaced inside the grille, which is almost always going bad and crumbling. Replacing the foam helps with fidelity and will eliminate any odor possibly picked up by the microphone throughout the years of use. When you receive this microphone, you will also notice the build quality is excellent and the weight on this microphone speaks to the quality. This is not going to feel like a cheap lightweight microphone in hand and is noticeably heavier than an SM57 for example.

PL 6's are great on percussion (esp toms, timbales, congas etc.) and will produce a lush full-bodied sound when used on grand piano played in rock and blues styles. The venting arrangement makes them less position sensitive than other dynamics, thanks to EV's variable d technology. They are robust, dependable and versatile and suit a range of roles which overlap with 57s, but they provide a notably different character and sonic imprint. Definitely worth having in your locker!
