2023 Gibson Theodore Standard Electric Guitar!
Ebony Gloss Black Finish! Made In USA!
This is really Cool. You are looking at a 2023 Gibson Theodore Standard Electric Guitar. From The Mind of Ted McCarty the former President of Gibson. The Gibson Theodore Standard electric guitar brings a mid-century design to life through the vision of past Gibson president Ted McCarty. Drawing on McCarty’s original 1957 sketches, this guitar’s unique double-cutaway body and scimitar headstock offer distinguished looks not found in any other instrument. With ’57 Classic and Classic Plus pickups, Theodore provides the smooth, articulate humbucking tones of the era—perfect for blues, rock and more. The Gibson Theodore Standard pays tribute to a visionary, resurrecting a lesser-known shape for new generations of guitarists to play.
On March 18th, 1957, Ted detailed and signed his drawing for a new solid body instrument which was never produced…until now. This very special Archive Collection run is limited to just 318 total instruments offered in three colors: Natural, Cherry, and Ebony. Each includes a Historic-style brown/pink case and a premium leather strap.
***This Guitar has never been sold before. It was used at Gibson's Corporate office for Internet Sales Videos, Print Media and Brochure photos. Not a "B" Stock, Open Box or a Factory Return. It is in "Like New" Condition. It is being sold as a used guitar.***
From The Web:
Body Based on 1957 Drawings by Ted McCarty
The Theodore Standard’s distinctive "tulip" shape comes directly from sketches and plans drafted by Ted McCarty in 1957 during his tenure as Gibson president. Previously only available as a limited-edition Custom Shop model, this historic design is now accessible to all players. Its graceful double Florentine cutaways and contoured edges provide unfettered access to all 22 frets, and the mahogany construction gives the guitar a traditional and balanced sound typical of other pervasive Gibson models, like the iconic Les Paul and SG. Playability takes center stage on the Theodore Standard, letting you fully explore its vintage-inspired voice.
Capture the coveted sound of 1957
Back in 1957, when Ted envisaged the Theodore, Gibson was hot off the heels of a fresh new double-coil pickup creation: The mighty PAF (Patent Applied For) humbucker. Fittingly, the Gibson Theodore Standard comes equipped with two year-appropriate 57 Classic humbuckers, capturing all the warmth, depth, and crisp articulation that’s made the PAF an industry-defining pickup for well over a half-century. What’s more, the Gibson Theodore Standard boasts a slightly hotter 57 Classic Plus pickup in the bridge position — a welcome enhancement among guitarists, as Gibson originally placed two identical PAFs in both the bridge and neck position of their golden age guitars. The 57 Classic Plus still provides all the vintage vibe and dynamic range you’d expect from a classic PAF-style pickup, only with a slightly hotter wind that emboldens your licks and rhythms with a biting edge.
Vintage inspiration, modern performanceMore than a mere history piece, the Gibson Theodore Standard delivers all the high-octane performance you’d expect from a modern Gibson guitar. A lightweight mahogany body starts it all off, shaped into a distinctive tulip-like shape that offers unimpeded access to all 22 frets. Gibson’s time-tested Slim Taper profile offers a fast-playing platform for all manner of fingerboard finesse, topped with a sleek rosewood. Finally, the standard Gibson setup of a Tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece embolden this axe with superlative sustain and superb string-to-body resonance.
