Up for sale is a remarkably preserved Gibson Sonex-180 Deluxe in Silverburst.

Unlike most Silverbursts from the early '80s that have oxidized into a greenish-yellow patina, this particular guitar still has a near-perfect silver hue, with subtle burst effects visible on the neck, back and sides. There is also no finish checking.

The finish itself looks and feels almost pristine. There is a bit of haze to the finish where your arm rests on the upper bout; other than that, it feels fresh.

Note that, despite the remarkably preserved finish, the guitar does have several dings and scratches, mostly on the back and sides, the most substantial of which are on the lower bout beneath the controls. They are all small and shallow, but they are there. All I could find are visible in the attached photos, so make sure to review closely and ask any questions before buying.

Condition & Wear:
This guitar is in excellent vintage condition. The top is incredibly clean, and the hardware is still shiny. The frets and neck are perfect, and the guitar has been professionally setup with La Bella 10-46 strings. It plays better than many Les Pauls! Truly great, super low action.

I also had my luthier install a custom ordered "Smoke Mirror" from WD Custom Pickguards (about $100 + installation). I think it looks awesome and perfectly matches the immaculate Silverburst finish. I will also include the guitar's original factory Black pickguard (see photo).

Electronics & Playability:

100% original electronics, fully functional. The pots turn smoothly and firmly, the 3-way switch feels tight and fresh, and the knobs are in perfect shape. Again, remarkably preserved.

The Sonex is a famously heavy, solid rock machine with incredible sustain. Ones like this one don't come up for sale often; it took me a long time to find.

Included:

Will ship in a dedicated guitar shipping box with professional packaging and insurance. Will be packed inside a premium, heavy-duty Levy’s gig bag (see photos).
