At 7lbs 11oz, tonewoods include an alder body, three-piece maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard. Designed with Vai specifically for the PIA guitars, the high output UtoPIA humbuckers expand on DiMarzio’s Evolution pickups, offering a focused low-end response while adding thickness and body to the top end. All the Evolution’s harmonic content is present, and the upper midrange is dialed back slightly for control and articulation. The UtoPIA Middle single coil is designed to complement the humbuckers (tapped at positions 2 and 4), delivering plenty of sparkle and snap.
