Paul Reed Smith SE Mark Holcomb Signature Holcomb Blue Burst
Serial Number: H086226
Weight: 7.12 lbs.

The PRS SE Mark Holcomb in Holcomb Blue Burst brings Periphery guitarist Mark Holcomb's Maryland-built signature model down to SE pricing, built around specs Holcomb developed specifically for the demands of modern progressive metal. Holcomb has described the SE version as capturing the essential character of his USA-built signature guitar in a more accessible package, and it's now his primary rig both in the studio and on tour. The solidbody construction pairs a mahogany body with a maple top under a quilted maple veneer, finished in gloss Holcomb Blue Burst, at a comfortable 7.12 lbs. for extended playing sessions.

The set maple neck carries PRS's Wide Thin profile in a satin finish (13/16" at the half fret, 57/64" at the 12 1/2 fret) for fast, low-friction playability, topped with an ebony fretboard bound in white, bird inlays, and an aggressive 20" radius across a full 24 frets and 25.5" scale length — specs built for extended-range technical playing and low, heavy tunings. A 1 11/16" PRS nut leads to PRS-designed tuners, while a PRS plate-style string-through bridge in black chrome hardware delivers maximum sustain and tuning stability under high-gain, drop-tuned playing.

Electronics are the heart of this guitar: Mark Holcomb's own signature Seymour Duncan "Scarlet" (neck) and "Scourge" (bridge) pickups, designed to stay tight and articulate under palm-muted riffing while still opening up for soaring lead tone, wired to a single volume with push/pull coil-tap tone control and a 3-way blade selector for extra tonal range. It ships strung 10-52 and set up in Drop C (C-G-C-F-A-D), matching Holcomb's own tuning. Whether you're a progressive metal or djent player chasing Periphery's tone directly, a low-tuning specialist who needs a 24-fret extended-range neck, or a fan of Holcomb's playing looking for his exact signature pickup pairing, this SE delivers his USA guitar's core DNA at real-world pricing. This Paul Reed Smith SE Mark Holcomb Blue Burst (Serial #H086226) includes a PRS gigbag. Order today from Brian's Guitars, your authorized PRS dealer.
