Why You'll Love It

Unlike many fuzz pedals that become overly compressed or harsh, the Nichols N-66 delivers a distinctive voice that blends the warmth and punch of vintage distortion with the rich harmonic character of classic fuzz. It cleans up exceptionally well using your guitar's volume control and remains expressive across a wide range of playing styles.

The Story Behind the Nichols N-66

In 1966, long before Danelectro became known for its iconic effects, Steve Ridinger built his very first pedal in his parents' garage on Nichols Canyon Place in Hollywood, California. Without access to commercial fuzz pedals or electronic schematics, he designed an entirely original circuit from scratch.

Although he called it the Liverpool Fuzz Tone, the circuit developed a character all its own—falling somewhere between a traditional fuzz and a distortion pedal. That unique design has remained unlike anything produced before or since, making the Nichols N-66 a faithful tribute to one of Steve's earliest creations.
