This 1963 Martin D-18 sounds as strong as its ‘50s predecessors, and it is fresh off a neck reset and refret! Check out the included demo video.

This is an excellent-sounding and -playing old dreadnought, with the aged Sitka / mahogany tone that only more than 60 years of existence can yield. Like all great old D-18s, this one has an airy “pop” and responsiveness, it’s loud, and it’s beautifully balanced. Strumming a G-chord just doesn’t get much more fun than on a vintage straight-braced Martin like this, in which every note in the chord shines equally!

I recently had one of my go-to luthiers, Jack Dillen, perform a neck reset, fretboard level, and refret. He also reglued the bridge and glued a couple side cracks. One of these side cracks accompanies a small dent, probably the result of the guitar hitting something (like the corner of a table). There is plenty of lacquer checking, buckle rash, and surface wear, along with a few deeper impressions here and there, and there is also some noticeable “spider-webbing” and lacquer scratching emanating from the bridge; however, there are no top or back cracks that I can find. The finish, pickguard, bridge, bridgeplate, and tuners are all original.
