The Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Reissue has long been regarded as one of the most historically faithful instruments in the Historic Collection. Prized by players and collectors for its full, unbeveled top carve and slightly fuller neck profile compared to its '59 sibling, the R8 recreates the earliest production run of the sunburst Les Paul with genuine period accuracy.

Built in Nashville in 2002, this example carries serial number 8 2916 and is finished in a striking Lemon Burst, with exceptional grain movement across the figured maple top. The carved maple top sits over a mahogany body and one-piece mahogany neck, joined with the long neck tenon construction Gibson used to recreate late-'50s specifications.

Fitted with a matched set of hand-wound Custom Shop humbuckers, each bearing the original "Wound by" base plate sticker denoting hand-wound construction consistent with Gibson Custom's early-2000s Historic production. This was standard practice before Gibson moved to printed pickup labelling around 2004-05, and the presence of the hand-applied sticker is a genuine marker of period-correct Custom Shop build quality. From clean articulation to rich, harmonically complex overdrive, this guitar responds with the touch sensitivity collectors chase these instruments for.

The nitrocellulose finish has aged naturally over more than two decades, with light checking across the lacquer and honest handling wear consistent with a well-loved instrument rather than a closet queen. Comes complete with the original Gibson Custom Shop Historic hardshell case, burgundy lined.
