You don't see these come up very often, and if you've been looking for one, you already know how difficult they are to find.

This is an original Ibanez Artist 2615B with the original hard case (still wearing its Cosmo Music sticker). I am only the second owner.

The bass is surprisingly light—comparable to, or even lighter than, my Gibson SG bass.

Condition

This is a player's instrument, not a collector's museum piece.

• Honest road wear throughout.
• Original hardware with some surface rust on screws.
• Strap button has been relocated.
• Original electronics and active preamp are functioning.
• Original pickups remain, with a vintage DiMarzio P-style pickup added in the middle by the original owner. There is a routed cavity beneath the pickguard for this modification.
• Currently strung with Rotosound Swing Bass strings.

The original owner purchased it new from Cosmo Music in 1975 and toured extensively with it as his main bass. This bass was also used by Frank Sargent of Sons of Otis, and Ken Baluke often referred to this as "the Sons of Otis bass sound."

I've owned it for several years after searching nearly eight years to find one. The only reason it's for sale is because I've received a surprising amount of interest after posting it on social media. I never planned on selling it, but if someone has been looking for one, here's your opportunity. There is extra bridge and parts in the case.

The active preamp is exceptionally powerful and this bass has a huge, aggressive sound.
