A vintage SLINGERLAND #146 wood snare drum has just arrived.

Featuring a 5-ply Maple & Poplar shell, this drum delivers rich low-mid warmth along with excellent responsiveness. Its soft, warm vintage character makes it suitable for a wide range of musical styles, from jazz to rock and pop, while still offering enough power and projection to stand out in a band setting.

The simple yet elegant Black Wrap finish adds to its timeless appeal, allowing players to fully appreciate the unique atmosphere and character that only a well-preserved vintage instrument can provide.

This drum is equipped with its original internal tone control (internal muffler) and features Chrome Over Steel (C.O.S.) hoops. An interesting detail is that the installed badge is a style commonly associated with the 1960s, while the shell ply configuration and specifications are more consistent with models produced during the 1970s and later.

There is no evidence that the badge was reinstalled, leaving the drum’s exact history somewhat of a mystery.
