JTM45 2245 Vintage Reissue Head

The Marshall JTM45 is where the story began. First introduced in the early 1960s, the original JTM45 laid the foundation for every Marshall amplifier that followed, producing the warm, dynamic and unmistakably British voice that would shape generations of guitar music. The current UK-built Vintage Reissue faithfully captures that character, combining vintage aesthetics with modern reliability.

Hand-built in Marshall’s UK factory, the JTM45 delivers 30 watts of all-valve power via a pair of 5881 output valves and a traditional GZ34 valve rectifier. Its simple control layout, four-input design and bridgeable channels allow players to blend the Normal and High Treble voices exactly as the originals were intended.

Tone

The JTM45 is renowned for its rich cleans, smooth breakup and exceptional touch sensitivity. At lower settings it produces warm, three-dimensional clean tones with plenty of sparkle and depth. As the volume controls are increased, the amp transitions into the thick, harmonically rich overdrive that helped define the sound of British blues and early rock music.

Compared to later Plexi and JCM models, the JTM45 offers a softer attack, rounder low end and a sweeter top-end response. It excels with everything from blues and classic rock through to vintage-inspired hard rock, pairing beautifully with pedals while retaining its unmistakable Marshall character.

Whether you’re chasing the tones of Clapton’s Bluesbreaker era, early Hendrix recordings, Peter Green or countless classic British rock records, the JTM45 remains one of the most musical amplifiers Marshall has ever produced.
