I am selling my sparkly red Kapa Continental guitar, made in or near Silver Springs, Maryland around 1965. I’ve been thinning my Kapa guitars recently and also have a Continental Bass and Continental 12-string up for sale.

This guitar is all original, including tuners, tremolo bar, and knobs. It’s in clean condition with an original red sparkle finish. It has some nicks and scratches but is solid. There is a nick behind the neck at the base of the headstock which probably came from hanging it on a wall or stand too often.

The only thing to note are the switches, which have been an annoyance on many of the Kapa’s I have owned over the years. They are finicky and seem to wear over the years. Up is on, down is off but they both need to be carefully moved to shut off the pickups - the shutoff spot is somewhere in the middle. Each pickup can be played by itself, both can be played together, but shutting them off is the tricky step. The volume and two tone knobs work as they should. The switches are original so except for cleaning them thoroughly I have left them be. They will need to be replaced to work consistently, or changed to a three way switch.

The pickups are Hofner humbuckers and sound full and loud. I have included pictures of the readings of each pickup and with them both on.

The body is dense wood - maybe poplar and is not very heavy. The maple flamed neck is a Fender-like 25.5 inch scale and is straight and quite thin. Length is 39 inches and the lower bout is between 12 and 13 inches.

Comes with a really nice vintage chipboard case is good condition.

Will pack professionally and ship quickly.

I’ve described this 59 year old guitar as best as I can with words and images, if you have any questions be sure to ask me before you buy.
