Late 80's Carvin X100B 6L6 model (power tubes NOT swappable to EL34).
Custom re-shell done with turquoise and cream tolex and wheat grill. Looks killer across the room, but full transparency: I was using up the leftover tolex I had from 2 other projects and didn't quite have enough to cover right under the controls.
Includes 2 button foot switch for changing channels or engaging the active graphic EQ.
The dirty channel has a lot of JCM character with less aggressive mids and more bottom end due to the 6L6 power section. The cleans remind me of the kind of Santana/Mesa sound and makes an excellent pedal platform. Genuine spring reverb sounds killer with either channel.
Amps that have a high gain channel this good pretty much never have a clean channel this good. Steve Vai famously praised this amp's cleans and recorded one of these on his song "Powder Blue". Also featured in the movie "The Crossroads" during the "Head-Cutting Duel" (the Steve Vai/Ralph Maccio showdown).
Push/pull boost feature and effects loop adds to the versatility, while the 25/50/100 watt feature allows you to size this amp to the venue. The Carvin X100B covers a looooooot of ground, and this 1-of-1 custom headshell example will turn heads, blast shred, and turn a pedal-fed signal into an esoteric experience!
