[Features]
The YAS-61 was born in December 1966 as Yamaha's first professional saxophone.
The first generation YAS-62, its successor, received high praise from jazz players in Europe and America, so many people associate early Yamaha saxophones with jazz.

However, the essence of the YAS-61 is not limited to that. This model's development involved prominent figures in the classical saxophone world at the time, including Michel Nouaux, and it is said that Shin Sakaguchi was also involved in the quality control. Furthermore, the successor model, the original 62, also involved Eugene Rousseau, a renowned American classical saxophonist, as a development advisor. In other words, what early Yamaha aimed for was not an instrument biased towards a specific genre, but a highly refined professional model capable of handling a wide range of genres from classical to jazz. The sound is smooth and elegant. It has a pleasant richness to the tone, and is not the type to be overly aggressive; its natural playing feel, responding directly to the amount of breath you put in, is its charm.

Although manufactured in the 1970s, this instrument is in remarkably good condition for a half-century-old instrument.
There is slight lacquer discoloration and minor signs of use, but there are no dents or repair history, and the condition of the body is excellent.

Furthermore, it has been overhauled and adjusted with internal cleaning and replacement of all pads, corks, and felts.
French-made CHANU plastic resonators are used for the pads, ensuring that the potential of this instrument is fully realized.

The charm of a Japanese vintage instrument and the solid performance of a professional model. This is a rare instrument that allows you to experience the origins of Yamaha saxophones in beautiful condition.
