The violin has a 2 piece maple back with medium figure, descending slightly from the center seam. The front is of bookmatched spruce with a strong annual ring pattern of narrow width, with grain spacing of < 1 millimeter to 11/2 millimeters. The sides are of maple with a flame consistent with that of the back. The neck and scroll are also of maple with a similar figure. The varnish is of oil and is a warm red brown on golden brown.
