Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a gorgeous Astatic 77L model microphone from the 1950's. This was a high quality dynamic cardioid microphone offered by Astatic and was their answer to the very popular Shure Brothers 55 S model mic at the time. This unit has been tested and though these 77's rarely work well today...this example works very well. It comes with the Astatic F-11 adapter and short cable in which to operate.

Pic # 2 shows this very mic in an old Astatic catalog I have.

Pic # 3 shows Jerry Lee Lewis using one of these while performing live in concert.

This 77 has a classic midcentury look and was used by many musicians of that era as the mic had a fantastic sound. It should be noted that this mic has an adjustable impedance switch (as seen in pic # 5) that does work but the mic has a older "rockabilly" tone with less bass than what most mics have today. A very 50's sound so if that is what you are looking for then this mic will do you justice. It's uni-directional and mostly picks up sound that is just in front of it.

If you have a good E.Q you can simply turn the bass level up accordingly. Again, very rockabilly tone.

These 77 model mics always have a loose element from years of use. I take care of that problem and it's well secured without causing any pick up issues. I have gotten to know these mics inside and out.

As you can see there are virtually no signs of wear on the satin chrome finish. No dents, scratches, engravings or nicks and it has a beautiful luster. The black silk screen is 100% complete in the front and rear with zero rips, odors or holes. The joint mechanism holds strong and the mic head tilts backwards as needed. The on / off switch slides smoothly as well.

The mic takes the 3 pin style F-11 adapter. One is included and it has a short 5 inch cable. The chrome on the F-11 adapter is very nice and the cable is soft and pliable with zero damage. The cable comes with the vintage Cannon male XLR end connector.

This Astatic 77L is a solid 9 + out of a scale of 1 - 10 on the cosmetic side. The 77L has an elegant, timeless look that set these vintage mics apart from the others in the 1950's and presently. Though several Japanese manufacturers made microphones that looked almost identical. The 77A had superior styling and sound over the competition.

This microphone with F-11 adapter will screw onto any American desk or floor stand.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

As with all my vintage microphones for sale...
