G&L USA Custom Build Legacy HB2 Hollow Body Flamed Maple with 2 Seymour Duncan Coil-Splitting Humbuckers
This guitar is exceptional. Excellent condition. I bought it in 2015 brand new from the original dealer who got it direct from G&L.
There are very few semi-hollow G&L HB2 – basically an improved Stratocasters – available because people who have these rarely sell.
Unfortunately, the combination of age, retirement, and too many interchangeable guitars leads me to sell this guitar.
As you know, G&L was Leo Fender's final guitar company — the one he started after leaving Fender and then Music Man. Many players (and Leo himself) considered these his best work. The Legacy is G&L's Strat-style platform, and the HB2 is the hollow body variant, which is a much less common configuration. This instrument is a USA Custom Build, meaning it was a factory custom order built to specific specifications at the G&L shop in Fullerton, California.
As you also know, Fender bought G&L recently. All the “new” ones are presumably the dealers’ leftover stocks, or maybe Fender is now making guitars under this nameplate, also.
The flamed maple top combined with the two Seymour Duncan coil-splitting humbuckers complements the semi hollow body sound and feel.
It is light for a Strat-type instrument: only 7.5 pounds.
Condition: Excellent. It been played. Some swirls that are hard to photograph. Other than that, no buckle rash, scrapes, dings, or nicks that I can see.
Overall, it really has little or no more wear than the average instrument sold as “new” that is hanging in the music shop and played by every potential buyer.
