A very special late 80s Japanese Charvel, listed as a 1987 Charvel Model 2. Finished in striking gloss red, this is the classic stripped-back Model 2 formula: basswood body, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, single Jackson humbucker, single volume control and Jackson JT6 locking tremolo bridge.

It is exactly the sort of guitar that made these Japanese Charvels so loved. No unnecessary extras, just a fast, focused, great-feeling 80s superstrat with loads of attitude. The neck feels fantastic, the single-humbucker layout keeps everything direct and punchy, and the JT6 trem gives it the full shred-era look and feel.

Considering this guitar is now approaching 40 years old, it is in absolutely beautiful condition. It has clearly been played and enjoyed, but it has also been well cared for. There are pick marks in the usual places, mainly visible when caught under light, plus some light dings, small blemishes and age-related marks as shown in the photos. The bridge hardware has tarnishing, especially around the trem/fine tuner area, and the truss rod cover is missing.

The frets show only very minor wear and the guitar plays incredibly well. Electronics are working correctly, the neck feels fast and comfortable, and the guitar has that unmistakable late 80s Charvel snap, bite and sustain.

These Japanese Model Series Charvels are getting harder to find, especially in this sort of condition. A fantastic example of an increasingly collectible 80s Charvel, and a brilliant guitar to actually play rather than just look at.

Beautiful condition for its age. Pick marks are visible in the usual playing areas, mostly under direct light. There are some light dings, minor blemishes and general age-related marks as pictured. The bridge shows tarnishing and the truss rod cover is missing. Very minor fret wear only. Plays incredibly well.
