Taking the name from the original Japanese pronunciation of Godzilla (Gojira), Led by singer, vocalist, and principal songwriter Joe Duplantier, the band has always dealt in extremes - uncovering light in darkness and finding beauty in heaviness while also searching to expand the sonic palette.

Charvel proudly honors Duplantier in 2017 with a new, distinctively elegant and ferocious signature model worthy of those musical pursuits. I don't mean to sound arrogant and have much respect for Charvel and Joe Duplantier to come up with a signature modeI. The looks of this guitar immediately caught my eye, however, in my opinion the original pick-ups that came with this particular guitar were cheap and lacking when it came to the Joe Duplantier Signature Sound. You can all agree it is hard to take an economy version guitar in the $700.00 range and duplicate Joe Duplantier. I have experimented in many different metal sounding pick-ups. For this particular guitar I had Fishman Fluence Open Core Modern Humbucker Ceramic Black pick-ups installed in the Bridge and Fishman Fluence Open Core Modern Humbucker Alnico White Pick-ups installed in the neck. This combination was chosen for looks and for quality of sound. I would not be foolish enough to say I came up with the Joe Duplantier sound, but these are a lot more metal worthy than what came in the original. This as many of my guitars was professionally set up and intonated in Drop D with D'Addario, NYXL, Gauge 11-49 strings. This guitar has been played a couple dozen times or on display in my non-smoking music room. It looks and sounds amazing. However, I have been thinning through my collection and decided to let this one go. Lastly, this guitar will be shipped in the original box it came in.
