This is a pedal I built using the Thumbsuckers Compressor board from Pedal PCB. This is the Engineer’s thumb circuit, which I don’t know if it’s ever really been offered in a commercial pedal.
Back ground on the circuit: you can read here from the creator of it and plenty of technical info on it.
Kind of sum it up Merlin Blencowe (he also has some great books on tube amp design) created this circuit mainly to improve upon the classic OTA compressors. Specifically the MXR Dynacomp. Reducing noise being the biggest goal. And he succeeded, this circuit is quiet!
It features 5 knobs, and a bright. The 5 knobs are as follows:
Attack
Release
Level (gain/volume)
Ratio
Theshold
It is wired for true bypass. Built by hand using all thru hole components. Is in a white textured powder coated enclosure.
