Vintage Conn 16B student trumpet, dated to approximately April 1978 based on the factory serial number (GD820059) stamped on the valve casing. A well-loved horn from a golden era of American brass manufacturing, with the warm, full tone typical of the 16B student line. Model designation "16B" is stamped on the leadpipe. This was my primary trumpet while in High School marching band & orchestra from 1992-1996.
Condition: Shows honest wear consistent with age and use — lacquer wear throughout, scattered dings/dents on the bell and body (see close-up photos), and light tarnish on nickel-plated slides and valve caps. Valves move and the horn appears mechanically functional, but as with any vintage instrument, a full inspection/service (valve alignment, oiling, slide grease) is recommended before heavy playing use.
Includes:
- Conn 16B trumpet (s/n GD820059)
- Original hard case (chrome exterior shows cosmetic wear; latches function and close securely)
- 2 mouthpieces (original Conn 7C standard and a Vincent Bach 12C which was my favorite)
- Cleaning snake/brush (newly purchased late June 2026, only used once)
- Valve oil (newly purchased in late June 2026)
- Mouthpiece cleaning brush
- Vintage dealer tag from the case's history (Jack's House of Music, Sacramento, CA) — a nice bit of character, not a functional item
A solid option for a student stepping up from a beginner horn, a backup/practice trumpet, or a vintage brass collector. Priced to sell ahead of back-to-school season.
