Harman Kardon 730 Receiver *UPGRADED 95 PARTS REPLACED* READ DESCRIPTION

For your consideration is a Harman Kardon 730 Twin Powered Stereo Receiver from 1975 in excellent condition with upgrades, details below. Cosmetically I would conservatively rate it 9.8 out of 10, for sound 10 out of 10 clean pristine sound on all inputs/outputs/functions/switches/buttons.

 If you're here, you probably already know but this is a legendary receiver with big, warm clean sound far beyond its rated 40 watts per channel. These units are renowned for their twin amplifier transformers and classic sound. In an era where most companies were chasing more watts, Harman Kardon engineers focused on other metrics to improve sound at lower wattage delivering sound quality that exceeds its power rating and price point, making it a coveted item among collectors and music lovers. 

If you like that Harman Kardon "look", this one has it. I don't think a better looking receiver has been made. This thing looks slick, even in rooms with modern decor. You can't beat the style of this receiver and it has the goods under the hood to match.

COSMETICS

There are only a few minor cosmetic notes, on the right side aluminum trim piece there is a tiny flea bite ding noted in photos, and between power button and headphones jack is a scratch and some very minor nicks/scratches around the bottom near power button and head phones. Other than that this unit is incredibly well kept and clean.

UPGRADES

95 TOTAL PARTS REPLACED WITH MODERN EQUIVALENTS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY - SEE PHOTO OF ALL PARTS REPLACED: Evert single capacitor on every single board including filter caps have been replaced, every known troublesome/noisy transistor has been replaced in tone board (8 total), Power board (6 total), phono board (6 total), switches board (4 total), New LED bulbs for dial lights, stereo bulb, dial pointer bulb, power button bulb. New trim pot resistors for dialing in bias. All pots/switches treated with appropriate Deoxit d5/f5. Bias has been set to factory standard 35mv on both channels.

The FM receiver works great and the unit sounds amazing even in my rural part of the country, an attached antenna helps bring in further away stations.

It will blow the roof off the house if you want it to, the sound fills the room and stays clean no matter the media or the volume. I strongly recommend playing with "contour" button engaged to hear the full potential of any Harman Kardon from this era, it is truly a warm, bright, clean sound. I have collected and auditioned the best receivers from Marantz, Pioneer, Sansui, Yamaha and I have settled on the Harman Kardon 730 as the best looking and sounding for my eye and ear slightly overtaking Marantz as a close 2nd.

This truly is an incredible piece of equipment, these models really do live up to their sterling reputation and this is an opportunity to own a nearly fully restored (everything left in this receiver are not known to have issues so they have been left alone), near mint condition HK 730.
