Orville Les Paul Standard Quilt Top MIJ – Late ’90s – Amber Burst – Very Good – Hardshell Case

Some guitars demand attention the moment you open the case. This Made in Japan Orville Les Paul Standard Quilt Top is one of them.

Finished in a gorgeous Amber Burst, the beautifully figured quilted maple top is the undeniable centerpiece of this guitar. The exceptional three-dimensional figuring and chatoyance shift beautifully as the light moves across the finish, giving the top incredible depth and character. Quilt-top Orvilles are far less common than standard plain-top models, making them especially desirable among players and collectors alike.

Built in Japan during the late 1990s, this Orville represents the craftsmanship that established Japanese-built Gibson-licensed instruments as some of the finest alternatives ever produced. With its traditional Les Paul construction, comfortable neck profile, and outstanding build quality, it delivers the tone, feel, and reliability that continue to make Orville guitars highly sought after nearly three decades later.

Condition

Overall, this guitar is in Very Good condition for its age.

The quilted maple top presents beautifully and remains the highlight of the instrument, displaying remarkable depth and figuring that truly comes alive under different lighting.

The most notable cosmetic wear consists of clear coat lifting and peeling along the lower front edge of the body, along with additional areas of clear coat lifting on portions of the body’s sides. There are also scattered finish chips, light scratches, and honest handling wear consistent with nearly 30 years of careful use. The back shows typical surface scratches and light buckle wear expected from a well-maintained vintage instrument.

The pickguard has been removed, giving the guitar a clean, classic Les Paul appearance.

Most importantly, there are no major cracks, breaks, or structural repairs. This guitar has excellent bones, plays wonderfully, and remains an outstanding example of a late-’90s Made in Japan Orville.
