Craviotto AK Brass Snare Drum - 14 x 6.5 Masters Metal, 2013 – Excellent Condition - #40 of 60

RARE!! Craviotto/AK 14 x 6.5, 2013 Masters Brass Metal Snare Drum, #40 of 60 issued. This AK snare is in excellent+ condition throughout. As you may know, these raw brass shells acquire the grease from our hands and this does show a few fingerprint smudges. I handle this snare using Micro-fiber cloth, I think the marks were from the previous owner…, a professional drum shop which I purchased from in approx. 2014. I’ll mention to you if you like off-line.

Since I have owned this snare drum, I have only played it occasionally in my smoke free home, and it’s never been gigged. When not in use, I store it in a padded Humes and Burg Pro hard case, which I will sell to you if you like (additional $85).  All chrome hardware is in excellent condition, I relieve the snare wire tension when not in use, new original snare and batter heads, Craviotto drum key, keychain and original soft case.   

 In collaboration with Adrian Kirchler in Italy, this limited run Craviotto snare is a lightly used drum with no blemishes on the hardware. Incredible tone and best of the era craftsmanship make for a drum that captures all the best qualities of a handmade instrument with modern clarity. Open but meaty tone and a snappy sensitivity. The raw brass shell has a clear, rich but warm and "played-in" feel and sound.

The Craviotto/AK series were periodic limited runs done with Johnny Craviotto and his good friend Adrian Kirchler. Adrian is "The Master" of metal shells as Johnny was "The Master" of solid wood shells. They collaborated on several different offerings over the years, and the Masters Brass was the series from 2013. Prior series were done with just 5.5x14 and 6.5x14 drums, but for 2013 the decision was made to offer 4.5x14 and 8x14 in addition. The quantity of each size was determined by examining the sales history for those sizes within Craviotto. 6.5x14 was the most popular, followed by 5.5x14, and then the 4.5x14 and 8x14. As a result, the decision was made to do 60 of the 6.5s, 40 of the 5.5s and 25 each for the 4.5 and the 8.
