Despite building guitars (and finding great success in Europe) since the 1990's, Furch didn't enter the US market until the late 2000's, early 2010's. It was at this time that Furch made arrangements with Toronto-based SGI to become it's presence in the North America under the brand name "Stonebridge", which Furch management believed sounded much more like a high-end American brand name. The company waited and methodically went about the business of establishing the brand. Once they were were reasonably established, they retired the name "Stonebridge" and have since been known as Furch Guitars. The company now has state of the art production facilities in the US along with maintaining a primary presence in the Czech Republic.
That's the backstory on this Furch D-33SR which was the precursor to the current Vintage 3 Series. A screenshot from the Furch website shows the D-33SR in the final attached image. You can find the specs on the website along with those associated with the newer model Vintage 3. Aside from some technological differences such as the new, proprietary finishing process and the incredibly brilliant CNR neck joint, it is essentially just a newer iteration of the same master sitka topped, master grade rosewood back and sides guitar.
Interestingly, and somewhat surprisingly, I have a 2014 Furch D-31 SM (the mahogany version of the series) and own both a "Reimagined" D-18 and D-28 and have A/B'd the pairings on several occasions. I found them to be extremely similar, as you would expect. In fact, I would have difficulty in choosing between them and picking favorites, so parting with this one isn't going to be easy. Of the four, I best like the tone, projection, and playability of the D-31SM but it just barely nudges the D-18 out of that picture. They're that close. If you're hoping to find a D-28 style guitar that is not only beautiful in to the eye but is extremely well constructed and will stand the test of time, your search is over!
Please take your time in reviewing the listing and its many photographs taken from various angles and aspects to effectively show the condition of the guitar. Ask any questions you may have before hitting the "Buy" button as there are no returns. All sales are final.
The guitar will be extremely well packaged in its excellent condition Hiscox hardshell case. I do my shipping through UPS, insured to claimed value and signature required upon delivery. I don't like shipping during the hot summer months and will detune the guitar, backing down on the string tension. There is also plenty of packing material and the guitars case itself which act as insulation from the heat.
All of my guitars are extremely well cared for and spend much of their lives in their cases and residing in a climate controlled studio.
