This 1958 Hofner Senator comes in its original Blonde finish. Though Hofner was a German brand, Selmer UK imported and distributed its instruments to the British market, so this model No. 372 was available through the Selmer catalog from about 1952 to 1971. As the model equivalent to Hofner’s 455, this was a mid-of-the-line archtop model for the brand, sitting just above the Congress but below the President, described as the “working man’s archtop.” Although this is the acoustic version, the Senator was also available with a single pickup. The Compensator tailpiece bears the brand name, and this rosewood board features triple-dot pearloid inlays. The neck is a thick, full U shape. These archtops are reliable, offer great value for their price, and would be a great option for a player in need of an archtop that won’t break the bank.
