Offered here is a beautiful 1998 Taylor W10 dreadnought acoustic guitar (Serial #980612142), handcrafted in Taylor's El Cajon, California shop during the desirable pre-NT neck era.

The W10 was one of Taylor's flagship walnut models, built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid figured walnut back and sides. Walnut offers a wonderfully balanced tonal character—combining the warmth of mahogany with much of the clarity and articulation associated with rosewood. The result is a responsive guitar with excellent projection, defined note separation, strong bass response, and versatility for fingerstyle, flatpicking, and vocal accompaniment.

This guitar has aged beautifully over nearly three decades and remains in excellent condition, both cosmetically and mechanically.

Condition

The guitar has been carefully inspected and is ready to play.

• Straight neck
• Frets show only light, normal wear
• Action measures approximately:
• • 3/32" on the bass side at the 12th fret
  • 2/32" on the treble side at the 12th fret
• Plenty of saddle height remains for future adjustments
• Bridge is tight and secure
• Top is flat with no structural concerns
• Tuners function smoothly

Cosmetically, it shows only light signs of careful use that are appropriate for a 1998 instrument. There are a few small finish marks and minor surface imperfections that can be found upon close inspection, but nothing that impacts tone, playability, or structural integrity.

One of this guitar's highlights is the beautifully figured walnut back, which displays impressive depth and natural chatoyance that photographs simply don't capture completely.
