1980 Tokai LS-50 Gold Top “Love Rock Model” – Made in Japan

Up for sale is a 1980 Tokai LS-50 Gold Top “Love Rock Model,” made in Japan.

This is an early Tokai LS-series single-cut model from the highly regarded Japanese vintage era. The serial number is 0101205, and the back of the headstock has the “50” model sticker. The guitar is equipped with Gotoh-made PAF-style humbuckers with “Patent Applied For / made by goto” baseplates, which are period-correct for this era of Tokai LS models.

This Gold Top has a very cool vintage look, with a warm gold finish on the top and a natural mahogany back and neck. Rather than a mint collector-grade piece, this guitar has honest signs of use, giving it real vintage character and presence.

The guitar plays well and has a comfortable setup. The sound is warm, open, and lively, with a clear neck pickup and a strong, articulate bridge pickup. It is a very enjoyable player’s guitar with the classic feel and tone that early Tokai Love Rock models are known for.

This guitar is in Very Good vintage condition.

There are small dings, scratches, and signs of use in various areas. The gold top finish has some light sticker / tape marks. There are small scratches and dings around the body top, body edges, back, neck back, and headstock edges.

The body back has light scratches, small dings, and general play wear. The neck back also has some small dings and marks, but it remains comfortable to play.

There is a repaired finish crack on the front face of the headstock. This appears to be a finish-level issue, and there is no serious structural damage.

There is no neck break or headstock repair.

The frets have approximately 80–90% life remaining. The neck is in good playing condition, and the electronics have been checked and work properly.

The metal parts, including the bridge, tailpiece, pickup pole pieces, pickup screws, control knobs, tuners, and small screws, have also been carefully cleaned and polished as much as possible.

The neck, frets, controls, and electronics have been checked, and the guitar is currently in good playing condition.

Please understand that vintage and used instruments may have minor age-related wear, small cosmetic marks, and slight changes in setup due to long-distance shipping or climate differences.

Minor adjustments after arrival may be needed depending on the buyer’s playing style, preferred string gauge, and local climate.
