Bought a few years ago for a project on the recommendation of my luthier friend. I haven't used them & have no knowledge of the instrument they were taken out of by the previous owner. I haven't heard them & cannot describe their sound either.

As seen in the photos, they are dogear, not soapbar pickups. No pickup covers. The bridge pickup reads around 8.8 kOhms on my ancient multimeter, which puts it in the Epic57 series; the neck pickup reads around 7.4 kOhms, closer to the Epic56 series range.

Online overview of the Klein Epic Series P-90 sets:

"Klein Epic Series P-90 pickups are highly praised for their authentic vintage tone, accurately replicating the dynamics, timbre, and clarity of late-1950s originals. Guitarists value them for delivering aggressive, punchy mids and robust drive without sacrificing treble frequencies.

Tone and Performance

The Klein Epic Series P-90s (most notably their 1957 reproductions) are built using historically accurate materials, including 1959 alloy screws, vintage nickel silver, and laboratory-analyzed magnets. Across player forums and reviews, consensus highlights the following characteristics:

  • Neck Pickup: Offers a fat, warm, and punchy sound. It retains excellent clarity while providing a smooth, lower-mid drive that responds incredibly well to playing dynamics.
  • Bridge Pickup: Famous for its aggressive midrange and biting attack. Players love how it cuts through a band mix while still retaining essential high-end clarity instead of turning to mud.
  • Dynamics: Highly touch-sensitive. Players often note that these pickups clean up beautifully when you roll off the guitar's volume knob, yet snarl and push an amp into natural compression when dug into.

Specs and Availability

These pickups feature specifications designed to match mid-century models, such as Alnico V magnets and outputs typically measuring around 8.00k for the neck and 8.90k for the bridge. They are generally available in both Soapbar and Dogear configurations to fit a variety of vintage and modern P-90 equipped guitars.

Klein Pickups retail for around $125 to $250 per pickup depending on the exact model and whether they are purchased as sets or individually." This last a quote fromPremier Guitar magazine.
