Ten-twelve years ago I bought this neck at the Philadelphia Guitar Show from an old friend I have bought guitars from for ages. It's a fretless bass neck made to fit a Lucite late 60's Ampeg/Dan Armstrong Bass, with the same headstock styling. I have owned a Dan Armstrong bass since 1972, have a couple, and thought this may be cool, but never used it. It is not a factory Dan Armstrong neck. My buddy Mike told me he got it from the original owner, and the original owner had it made to spec by Paul Reed Smith. I have no way to verify that, but it is a well made neck with gorgeous wood. Machines but no truss rod cover, it has never had one. Thanks for looking!
