The 1948 Martin D-28 is a highly coveted post-war acoustic guitar. Key specs include a premium Spruce top, solid Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, a Mahogany neck, non-scalloped X-braced design, and an Ebony fretboard with pearl dot inlays. It features a 1-11/16" nut width and a 25.4" scale length.

This beautiful example has already had all the needed work performed. It was converted to left-handed at some point (most likely at the Martin factory), then converted back to right-handed. Tuners, nut, bridge and saddle are all newer. Identical side marker dots are present on both sides of the neck, and there is a diagonal cleat typical to Martin factory work under the treble side guard (to prevent the typical guard cracks from worsening). The treble side guard also shows heavier clear coat under blacklight due to overspray from the lefty conversion. There is a small, tight top crack originating at the lower treble rim that has been glued but not cleated. Neck set/angle is excellent and frets are newer with barely any wear. Finish on the rear of the neck is mostly worn away and may have a coat of some sort of oil finish. Neck carve is a comfortable deep V, measures 1.688" wide at the nut, .9" deep at the 1st fret, and 1" deep at the 10th fret. The finish shows some minor scratches, dings, and buckle rash, but the condition is quite remarkable for an instrument of its vintage. Weighs 4.6 pounds and ships in Calton case shown.
