I have spent the last few decades finding and buying very nice vintage guitars to play for fun and for performance as a Bluegrass/folk musician. I am starting the process of selling a few of the best ones that have stayed with me awhile. They all deserve good homes with players that appreciate them. This is one of those. Over time my hearing has faded some and I find I am spending all my time with the dreadnaughts in the house. So, this beautiful instrument should not be left in the case.

Condition full disclosure -

1. This guitar might have used a neck reset when I bought it in order to have perfect low action. I had my luthier level & buff out the frets and take the saddle down to the lowest functional height. There is plenty of fret height left and it plays without buzzing or fret-out issues. As a mostly Bluegrass player, I am comfortable with its moderate string height where I found it (~ .110" on both bass and treble sides at the 12th fret, ~ .070 is factory standard). It has stayed there all the time I have owned it.

I play it and enjoy it as you see it in the photos, but if you prefer lower, softer action, you will want your favorite vintage pro luthier to do the reset. Note that my asking price reflects this need at current costs. See the photo of the current market value from the 2026 Vintage Guitar Price Guide. The market is still only going in one direction.

2. There is plenty of Gibson-ish finish crazing throughout on the nice original finish, but there are no body cracks. There is one small finish split on the back, about 1.5" long, that does not seem to go through the wood. My luthier and I shined a very bright light on it in a darkened room and could not see it showing through. It is perpendicular to and over the top of a back brace, so there seemed to be no real need to cleat or glue it yet. You and your luthier can examine it and make you own call.

Those are the only issues of any potential cost or concern. Otherwise, it is in great shape with only a few finish scuffs or nicks here and there. I have included photos of the most notable ones, but there aren't many. The neck is straight and true. The truss rod works. Braces are all there and well-attached. Same for the original bridge plate. I have kept it in 35-40% humidity its whole time with me, so there are no dryness-related issues.

Vintage and originality - The original tuners have been replaced (before I bought it). All else appears original to my experienced eye. 1947 is my judgement call based on two major telling points. There is no FON and the block logo is set relatively low on the peghead compared to where they placed it in subsequent years. Both of those clues are consistent with early 1947, right after they made the change from script to block lettering, and right before they resumed stamping a FON on the heelblock again post-WWII.

The sound on this one is as good as a very nice early LG gets. You can spend a whole bunch more for a war-time banner model and not really get your money's worth in better sound IMHO. It is powerful and clear, midrange dominant as expected, but with plenty of bass for a small body and the sweet, sparkling highs they can produce. If you are a Blues player, this is your dream guitar.

The arched-top hardshell case is probably from the 1970s, probably from a small-body Guild, in nice shape.

Sold honestly represented as-is, no returns. Please study the photos carefully and ask any & all questions you might have before buying. I will answer as quickly as possible with extra info. I want you to be very happy you bought this guitar from me.

Sold only to buyers in the CONUS. Shipping will be via FedEx Ground Economy for the actual cost of insured shipping only, no junk fees or extra charges. Thanks for looking!
