Burny BD-80 Dove Copy Model – Made in Japan

Guitars built by manufacturers associated with master luthier Yasuo Momose are highly sought after among collectors and players. In particular, Burny’s Gibson-style replicas are so highly regarded that they are often referred to as “Momose Burnys.”

This guitar is a high-end Burny model based on the legendary Gibson Dove. It features Momose’s signature on the internal label and is, in my opinion, one of the finest Japanese-made Gibson-style acoustic guitars ever produced.

Over the years, I have owned several Gibson acoustics, including a 1970s Dove, a J-45, and a 1995 J-35. While this is only my personal opinion, this guitar delivers the kind of rich, powerful tone that I associate with a great Gibson acoustic.

Condition

A dummy output jack has been installed in place of the original endpin. The plastic collar around the jack has lifted slightly, creating approximately a 1 mm gap. However, there are no signs of structural issues, looseness, or unwanted noise.

The guitar shows the expected dings, scratches, and cosmetic wear of a vintage instrument, but overall it remains in very good condition considering it is approximately 50 years old.

This is an excellent choice for players who love vintage Gibson acoustics but are looking for a more affordable alternative. It is especially well suited for singer-songwriters, heavy strumming styles, and live band performances.
