The Schecter C-4 Standard in Tobacco Burl Boutique Aesthetics Meets Active Low-End

At Town Center Music, we believe that a bass should do more than just hold down the low end—it should command the stage. The Schecter C-4 Standard in Tobacco Burl is a masterclass in modern bass design, offering a "stop-and-stare" visual appeal paired with a versatile active electronics package. While many basses in this class stick to traditional spruce or ash, Schecter has pushed the envelope by combining a resonant mahogany body with an exotic burl top. This is a bass for the player who wants the warmth of a vintage instrument and the surgical precision of a modern active circuit.

The C-4 body shape is legendary for its comfort and balance. With its sleek contours and deep cutaways, it offers effortless access to every inch of the fretboard. Whether you’re laying down a thick groove in the pocket or tapping out a melodic solo, the C-4 Standard provides a stable, ergonomic platform that feels natural from the very first note.

Exotic Woods: Mahogany Resonance and Tobacco Burl Beauty

The heart of the C-4 Standard’s tone lies in its solid mahogany body. Mahogany is the preferred choice for bassists seeking a "thick" and "punchy" response. It provides a natural compression that smooths out your attack while emphasizing a rich midrange that helps your bass lines sit perfectly in a dense mix. To elevate the instrument to a professional aesthetic, Schecter has capped the body with a highly figured burl top.

The Tobacco Burl finish is truly unique; because of the organic nature of burl wood, no two instruments look exactly alike. The dark, swirling patterns of the wood grain are highlighted by the Tobacco burst, giving the bass an "earthy" yet sophisticated look. Black one-ply binding frames the body, adding a crisp, modern edge to the organic wood textures.

Professional Playability: Roasted Maple Neck and Ebony Fretboard

Stability is the hallmark of a great bass, which is why the C-4 Standard features a roasted maple neck. The multi-piece construction makes the neck significantly more resistant to the "warping" that can occur with humidity changes—a critical feature for musicians gigging in the variable Georgia climate. The bolt-on construction provides a percussive "snap" and immediate note response that slap-bass players and fingerstyle technicians will love.

Topping the neck is a genuine rosewood fretboard. Usually reserved for much higher-priced instruments, rosewood provides a smooth playing surface and a bright, percussive tonal contribution. Armed with 24 X-Jumbo frets and abalone dot inlays, the C-4 Standard offers two full octaves of range. The 34-inch scale length ensures the strings have the perfect amount of tension for standard tuning or dropping down for heavier styles.

Active Tone Shaping: Schecter Diamond Bass Pickups

While the woods provide the character, the electronics provide the versatility. The C-4 Standard is equipped with a pair of Schecter Diamond Bass humbuckers. These pickups are designed to be high-output and incredibly quiet, capturing the full frequency range of the instrument without unwanted hum or interference. But the real power lies in the Active 2-Band EQ.

The onboard active circuit allows you to boost or cut both your Bass and Treble frequencies. This transforms the C-4 into a sonic chameleon: you can crank the bass for a massive, dub-like thump, or boost the treble for a "clanky," metallic attack that cuts through a high-gain wall of guitars. With Master Volume and Blend controls, you can find the perfect sweet spot between the punchy bridge pickup and the warm, rounded neck pickup in seconds.

Rock-Solid Hardware for the Road

At Town Center Music, we know that reliability is non-negotiable. The C-4 Standard is outfitted with a Schecter Diamond Bass bridge, a heavy-duty unit that ensures massive vibrational transfer to the body while allowing for precise intonation. The Schecter tuners feature a 17:1 gear ratio, providing smooth and accurate tuning that holds up through aggressive sets. All hardware is finished in a sleek Black Chrome, perfectly complementing the Tobacco Burl aesthetic.
