What a beautiful guitar that needs a new start. This late 60's Epiphone Frontier was made in Kalamazoo and stamped as a factory second. It was long term case kept and neglected which resulted in the typical issues you would assume for a guitar that wasn't played or maintained. It has three cracks in the top. The one on the bass side begins at the top and extends about 9 inches just past the bridge. The second is on the treble side and extends from the bottom approximately 5 inches. The last crack is very small and extends from the soundhole near the pickguard and extends to the transverse brace below the fingerboard. There is also a good size finish check that appears as a crack, but I cannot get any movement from it. The binding is crumbling from years of off-gassing in the case, which resulted in discoloration of the frets and some discoloration of the top along the edges. We will be as careful as we can with the crumbling binding, but I cannot guarantee that it will show up with all the binding that is in the photos. The top has lifted from the bottom bass bout near the largest area of crumbled binding. The bridge itself was cracked all the way through at one point, and someone tried to re-glue it with what appears to be CA glue.
Now the good stuff... TONS OF VIBE AND MOJO. Tuned to D Standard, with dead strings, it sounds amazing. Tons of bottom end with good presence and a lot of volume. This is going to be a great guitar. The neck angle is quite good. Once the bridge is taken care of and a well fit saddle is installed, it will play very well. There is some fret wear, but far less than you would expect for a guitar of its age, and it has never been re-fretted. The headstock is in very good condition and has never been repaired. Original tuners are intact, and the original case is included. The back and sides are in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks.
