Classic Roland MC-505 Groovebox in Fair condition.

This unit is mostly functional and powers on/operates, but it does have some issues and would likely benefit from service, adjustment, and general TLC. It is not being represented as a mint or fully serviced unit, so please review the condition notes carefully before purchasing.

Known issues:

• The Resonance knob does not appear to be functioning.
• The EFX knob does not either, although this knob's setting can also be set by the main dial.
• Three of the white keys appear to be loose.
• Slight dings, dents and scratches from almost 30 years of existence.
• I have not done a full deep-dive (this is very feature-rich unit!), so there could be more things I haven't noticed. But the things I've played with, apart from the items above, have been fine.

Positives:

• Display recently replaced (brand new!)
• Includes 2Mb SmartMedia card, and still successfully saves to/loads from it
• Old crusty knobs have been replaced
• MIDI in/out is fully working, and responds to all note and controller messages I sent it. So if some of the quirks annoy you, this thing could still be a helluva sound module

Because of the known issues, this MC-505 is being sold as-is, with no guarantees as to what repair or maintenance may be needed now or in the future. The condition has been factored into the asking price.

If you are looking for a fully serviced, problem-free MC-505, this may not be the right one for you. But this could be a great opportunity for someone who is comfortable with vintage electronic gear, minor repairs, or living with some quirks while enjoying a classic Roland groovebox.
