1962 Gretsch 6135 Corvette – Cherry Red – Original Brooklyn-Built w/ Original Faux Alligator Case
Vintage Gretsch from the Golden Era – Brooklyn, New York, USA
Offered here is an exceptionally original early-1960s Gretsch Model 6135 Corvette, built in Brooklyn, New York during Gretsch's highly regarded pre-Baldwin era. Finished in its original translucent Cherry Red over a solid mahogany body, this lightweight Corvette weighs just 6.6 lbs and has been professionally set up by our luthier for outstanding playability.
This guitar retains its original dual HiLo'Tron pickups, Gretsch "G" vibrato tailpiece, Waverly tuners, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, original knobs, and original Gretsch-logo pickup covers. It is an exceptionally honest example that has clearly been well cared for.
The only replaced component is the pickup selector switch. The original switch had become unreliable, so it was replaced with a genuine Gretsch replacement switch. The original factory switch has been retained and is included in the case, preserving the guitar's originality and provenance.
Also included is what we believe to be the original Gretsch faux alligator hardshell case, featuring the correct period plush interior and excellent fit for the guitar.
