Offering an Edwards E-FV-85D Flying V, made in Japan by ESP as part of the Edwards series - a line produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, known for build quality and material selection on par with more expensive ESP instruments. Mahogany body, mahogany set-neck, rosewood fingerboard with white binding and pearloid block inlays - specification typical of Japanese ESP production from this period.
The guitar has been hand-reliced by a previous owner - selective stripping of the lacquer along the edges of the body and neck exposing the wood, with the Edwards logo removed from the headstock. The result is convincing and gives the instrument the character of a guitar with a story - the look of a well-played, road-worn tool that any stage guitarist would be comfortable with. For someone looking for personality rather than another new guitar in a box, this is a well-executed piece.
The factory pickups have been replaced with active EMG 81 (bridge) and EMG 60 (neck) - one of the most proven active pickup configurations used by guitarists on stages worldwide. The EMG 81 in the bridge delivers precision and attack at high gain, the EMG 60 in the neck provides warmth and articulation for clean and lightly driven tones. Gotoh tuners. Original ESP soft gig bag included.
