WFL (Ludwig) Dual Strainer Snare Drum (1937-1948) - Adrian Kirchler snare wire
Professionally refurbished. Well loved condition. New goat skin and Adrian Kirchler snare wires, the rest is - as came to me and as best I can determine - original. Cleaned lightly, grease applied, heater tested and confirmed it works.
[recommended operation: plug it in and run for 15-30 minutes. Closely monitor, the drum will get hot. I suspect heat caused some of the wrap aging patterns.]
14”x7“ President Badge WFL snare drum.
Aged dark aqua blue sparkle finish - white speckles in photo are from polish filling and highlighting scratches/cracks in the wrap.
The drum has nickel hardware has some surface scratches, light rust spots, and includes original WFL dual strainer strung with two new (2020) Adrian Kirchler snare wire gauges (German & American). IYKYK.
Modern Mylar heads will fit, but it’s outfitted with thin transparent Goat drum skin tucked around Coopermans wooden flesh hoops.
The RARE Dampp-Chaser internal heater is there to assist with skin drumhead hygroscopic slacking. The company made similar heaters for grand pianos.
This drum deserves to be played or just admired as art. Ideal for ensemble or orchestra. Versatile on a drum set.
