The Revox G36 MkIII is the final and most refined version of the classic Revox G36 tube (valve) open-reel tape recorder, manufactured from approximately 1966 to 1967. It is widely regarded as the most desirable version of the G36 series before Revox introduced the transistorized A77.
Key improvements of the MkIII over earlier G36 models include:
- Optical tape-end sensor, replacing the earlier mechanical tape-end detection.
- Improved electronics with better crosstalk performance.
- Various reliability improvements to the transport and pushbutton circuitry.
Typical specifications:
- Tube-based (all-valve) electronics.
- Three-motor transport.
- Supports reels up to 10.5 inches (26.5 cm).
- Stereo record/playback with separate electronics for each channel.
