1940s Vega D-100F electric mandolin
Here’s a terrific bargain, — a distinctive vintage electric mandolin that needs a little TLC. First the good stuff: It is crack free, with no replaced parts, and is a highly desirable collector’s item.
It also fills the bill for those who want an electrified instrument, but don’t want to carve up their Lloyd Loar F-5 to make it happen.
Here’s the not so good stuff: First, the neck was separating from the body but has been re-glued, leaving a little separation in the glue joint that the new owner may want to touch up. Second, the oft-missing tailpiece cover is, (you guessed it) missing.
Third, the cord to connect the instrument to an amplifier is also missing. It is the old style screw-on mic cord. They do still make new ones, and vintage ones are often found laying around in someone’s box of miscellaneous electrical paraphernalia.
You just have to look.
More good news: we have provided a new (Epiphone) hard case that fits the mandolin snugly and though the neck is not perfectly straight, the action is very playable.
Sold as-is.
