Vintage 1956 Valco Supro Comet 6 String Lap Steel Guitar VGC+

Vintage 1956 Valco Supro Comet 6 String Lap Steel Guitar!  Outstanding VG++ condition for a 70 year old instrument! Serial Number X19322, plus the original early CTS 220-1 (Jensen) pot codes date this example to 1955-56.  Solid Maple body, the strong original pickup still screams, untouched original wiring, cap and pots and fixed output cord with an original Switchcraft telephone plug predates the use of an output jack or button connector.  Original Kluson tuners have had the plastic keys replaced with genuine Kluson Buttonwood replacement knobs, the original plastic disintegrated long ago. However, the often missing original plastic pickup cover and palm rest and its retainer knobs are there and is only slightly warped.  Very nice original rare rectangular stripped linen/black flocked lined case with an unbroken clear plastic handle, very cool.  The bottom brown leatherette lap padding is intact with just some honest playwear as is the fretboard, a few minor nicks and scuffs from play.  Nice clean original white plastic knobs too and the "mother of pearloid" plastic laminate is in outstanding condition for its age with a nicely faded yellow patina.  The original Supro plastic logo at the heel has fallen off leaving a glue stain impression, the 'S' letter was found loose in the case and is included, replacement logos are available if desired but we left it original sans the tuner buttons. The brass headstock logo is gorgeous though.  NEW set of GHS Strings installed. Also includes a new reproduction Stevens bar and some vintage finger picks!
