The Ludwig Copper Phonic 5”x14” Snare Drum (LC660) delivers a powerful combination of focus, projection, and rich low-end character. Drawing from nearly a century of Ludwig’s experience crafting copper timpani, the Copper Phonic brings the unique tonal qualities of copper to the legendary Phonic series. The result is a snare drum with exceptional body, warmth, and articulation that occupies a distinctive space between the brightness of brass and the dryness of aluminum.

Built around a seamless 1.2mm copper shell, the LC660 produces a focused attack with dark, full-bodied lows and impressive projection. The shell’s musical character allows the drum to remain articulate and responsive while delivering the power needed for live performance. Whether tuned high for crisp articulation or lower for a thick, commanding backbeat, the Copper Phonic maintains clarity and presence throughout its tuning range.

The drum features Ludwig’s iconic Imperial lugs, 2.3mm steel triple-flanged hoops, P88AC throw-off, and P35P butt plate for reliable performance and smooth operation. Ludwig Weather Master coated batter and clear snare-side heads come installed from the factory, allowing the drum to deliver its signature voice right out of the box. With its smooth copper shell and unmistakable Ludwig craftsmanship, the LC660 is a modern classic built for drummers seeking a unique and powerful metal snare sound. Available now at CymbalFusion.
