I bought this 1980 Gibson ES-335 Pro model from the original owner at least 20 years ago and hardly played it myself. When I first met the guy I saw that he was very dedicated and practiced a real lot. Over the years he was a guy who worked a lot on all kinds of gigs and I played with him quite a bit (I'm a bass player). At some point he wanted to get into a '52 Reissue Fender Telecaster and was going to trade this guitar in at the music store but I talked him into selling it to me instead.

He had beautiful technique and got clear beautiful full tone from this guitar with precise intonation. He played all kinds of styles on commercial gigs but I got to play some trio and duo dates with him doing jazz and standards and I loved the chord melody playing he did with beautiful clarity on this 335.

So, this guitar has a lot of wear by a professional player. I try to show everything in the pictures. The front of the guitar looks quite good. There is one nasty straight scratch next to the control knobs that I am embarrassed to admit I inflicted on it. It's not a crack but you can see it in the photos. The sharp corner of some rackmount unit slid across and left the mark. Could've been worse but I still feel bad. The finish still comes up quite nice with a little polish although not perfect. It's been played a lot so check the pics.

Back has marking that looks like button tracks and a worn spot about 2 inches around worn gradually over the years. Finish, like the front, not perfect but comes up pretty good with polish. The bridge and stop tailpiece also have excellent shine.

Back of the neck looks very worn but smooth to play on with no damage or gouging. I read that the tuning gears are Gibson branded German Schallers. The frets show pretty heavy wear especially from around the 5th to 12th frets. There are 2 pics showing the worst of it. You'll want a good fret dressing at a minimum.

So a lot of players love this model for the Dirty Fingers pickups they came with. They have a lot of bite and really cut through for rock styles and solos. Some guys weren't crazy about the sound of the neck pickup and made changes. My friend switched his out with a Pearly Gates and to me the tones you can get with this combination are better than any thin line semi hollow I've ever had. Really outstanding. Neck pickup also has a mini toggle coil tap switch. It all works great for lots of tone!

That's the story but feel free to message me any questions. Comes in a worn but solid Epiphone case with handle and working latches.
