Here is what I would call an unusually clean Fender Musicmaster Bass from 1974. This one is finished in the desirable Daphne Blue, and it has a three-ply white pickguard. The bass appears to be 100 per cent original and its great shape for its age. The blue color is still nice and bright with plenty of gloss. You can see a little greening of the finish under the pickguard, but the visible parts of the body retain the original blue hue. There are some small finish nicks near the bottom strap button, and there is a spot below the neck plate where it looks like someone left a coily cord too long, leaving behind 4 or 5 small finish chips (see close up photos). Otherwise, I would say this one shows much less wear than the typical vintage Fender bass. The hardware is clean and everything works as it should electronically. The neck is straight with easy playing action and great frets. It comes with what I suspect is the original chipboard case. It does have a section near the bottom where the trim has come loose but I think it could be repaired (again, see the close up photo). The serial number is 548070, one control pot has a 1973 date code while the other has a 1974 code, and the pickup has what looks like a 1974 date, so this one should be firmly from 1974. (I didn't want to take the neck off so I don't know it has a neck date or code- that era is hit or miss for those I think). If you've been looking for a no questions Fender bass in a cool color don't let this one get away.
